To All Our Listeners
Thank you very much for your support of World's Cool Jazz, wcjz.com and Internet Radio.

We hate to bring you bad news. On March 2nd, 2007 the CRB (Copyright Royalty Board) with the help of US Senators Feinstein, Graham, Biden and Alexander's supported the passing of the bill
S.256 Perform Act of 2007 which will increase our royalty rates.

We may soon have to close down World's Cool JazZ.
This bill will be devastating to the Internet broadcasters. Thousands of your favorite Internet stations will have to shut down.
This includes NPR (National Public Radio) Internet streaming, Yahoo Music, Rhapsody, Pandora, iTunes Radio streaming and Live365 stations will also have to shut down their broadcasts as a consequence of the 1000 plus percent increases of the royalty fees that we are already now paying. In addition, not only shutting the broadcasters down, but we will have to pay retroactively to January 1, 2006. World's Cool Jazz can afford what we are currently paying , but with this increase we will probably have to join the thousands of stations that will be silenced. This will not only shut down your favorite stations but may also put hundreds possibility thousands of people out of work. These jobs include some of the broadcasters and their station support, streaming providers, their service providers and licensing groups. This will greatly affect the Artists especially the Independent Artists that rely on our stations and support to get their music recognized by listeners from all over the world. Furthermore, due to these increases the major artist supporting groups such as BMI, ASCAP and SESAC will see a very large loss in revenues on account of the loss of the royalty paying Internet broadcasters. It looks as if the CRB is not only shutting us down they are spiting themselves with this bill. In addition to the above, this Bill will also affect the NPR (Nation Public Radio) Internet stations that you may listen to besides their terrestrial radio broadcasts.

One more crucial thing that will be a great loss to our listeners and their families are the Internet broadcast of the Amber Alert system.  Many Internet broadcasters have volunteered to add the most crucial alert system to our broadcast.  Even though new to the Internet broadcasters, this service may have already helped in finding a lost or abducted child.

Now you can do something to help the Internet Broadcasters and our Listeners fight to overturn this bill.

More Good News!
H.R.2060 has over 60 sponsors and there is a new bill now before the senate.
The new bill before the senate is called S.1353.
It is not over yet.  We still need your support.
Please click the link for more information on how to contact your state Senators and
Congressional representatives.

10 May 2007
We have some good news for once.  We have a reprieve until 15 July 2007 to get H.R.2060 passed.
This does not mean it is time to relax and wait until further news about the situation.
It means we have more time to contact our representatives and ask them for their support of H.R.2060.
What is H.R.2060?  This bill will keep the thousands of Internet Broadcasters from paying
more then 300 percent their regular broadcast fees.  H.R.2060 will keep our fees in the same range as the other digital broadcasters such as Satellite Radio.  The fight to keep us broadcasting is still an ongoing fight, so please help us to keep providing you with your favorite music.

There is some good news and some more bad news!
The good news...There is a new bill going to congress called
H.R. 2060
Internet Radio Equality Act presented by Congressmen Jay Inslee and Donald Manzullo.
This bill hopefully will nullify
S.256. Both Congressmen Inslee and Manzullo will need co-sponsors for this new bill so please contact your local representatives and ask them to
help push this bill through.
While you are listening to our free broadcast please take the time to write your representatives.

Now for the bad news S.256 will go into effect on July 15th 2007.
This means if there is no support for the Internet broadcasters or
H.R. 2060 does not get passed, thousands of broadcasters will have to shut down their stations.
After almost 10 years of bringing you your favorite music on World's Cool JazZ we will end up just going silent.........
Please help the Internet broadcasters.
