January, 2006 World's Cool JazZ started broadcasting in a new audio format called ¹aacPlus in addition to our mp3PRO broadcast. Now you will be able to listen to World's Cool JazZ at CD quality with crisper highs and smoother bass.
Even with an Internet dial-up service you will notice the improvement.  This improvement to our station will take less steaming space on the Internet which could improve your connection to our broadcast.
We have also added a new streaming provider for our aacPlus broadcast which will provide us much less ²dropouts or complete loss of our broadcast. aacPlus encoding technology is also being examined by the 3gpp (3rd Generation Partnership Project) for the use in future mobile products. This is already a plus for our listeners, now you will be able to take our music with you. We have already received emails by some of our listeners that they already are listening to us via their cell phones. ³All it takes is a very simple upgrade of your player to listen to our aacPlus station.  Winamp, VLC, RealPlayer and Apple's QuickTime player just to name a few will play our new format.

¹ aacPlus

The aacPlus (HE-AAC) audio compression enables higher fidelity sound at extremely low bitrates.
A 48 kbps stream will provide CD quality sound in comparison to mp3PRO's 64 kbps or WMP 128 kbps stream.
To listen to our broadcast you will need a media player that caries the above logo or states that it will play aacPlus.
Since that aacPlus is still fairly new there are only a few players that will support this format.
We provide a pop-up player on our site for our aacPlus stream. Firefox users please download this Plug-In and follow these Instructions for installation. Firefox will display our player, but it will not function without this plug-in.
Windows Media Player (WMP) will play aacPlus only with a very easy to install aacPlus plug-in by Orban.

mp3PRO

mp3PRO is the next step up from MP3.  It is compatible to MP3 except it will provide CD quality stereo at 64 kbps.
mp3PRO has a wider frequency bandwidth for richer sound quality, and it will eventually replace its predecessor MP3.

² Dropout

World's Cool JazZ cannot guarantee that you will not have dropouts or complete loss of our station.
There are many factors that could cause dropouts or complete loss.
One. From our broadcast, this could be due to Internet congestion, our Internet provider, or our Internet steaming Provider. Long term dropout could be due to loss of power at our station due to the extensive storms and hurricanes in Florida.
Two. From your listening end of the stream. This could be due to Internet congestion, your Internet provider, your media player, or lack of resources in your computer (too many programs running, lack of memory, slow CPU speed), an old operating system { win98} or not having updated players to play aacPlus.
