In late 1998 I had an idea, why not place some of my Jazz CDs on the Internet so I could listen to them at my desk at work. I did this without considering that the broadcast of my CD collection would be heard by anyone else or gain any popularity, well people are listening, and it is still gaining popularity. Due to the popularity of my broadcast, a new Internet Radio station was born. I had to come up with a name for the broadcast. Since I was playing Jazz music from around the world and my listeners are from around the world I then came up with the name for the broadcast, World’s Cool JazZ, hence the abbreviation WCJZ as in wcjz.com. Lately there has been a large increase of listeners from all over the world and over 30 thousand hits on our website, World’s Cool JazZ, wcjz.com is going strong. Our goal is to help the new Jazz artists get exposure for their music. We have been featuring new artists on our station such as Wavelength, Gabrielle Goodman, James Hollihan, Ronald Turner, and many others. We also have been receiving many new artist’s music from around the world such as Agatsuma, Enoo, Exit, Martin Campbell and the list of World Jazz artists are getting larger by the month. Let us not forget the favorites, from Acoustic Alchemy to the Yellowjackets, and the Jazz greats like Ella Fitzgerald, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, and Louis Armstrong. They are all here at World’s Cool JazZ, wcjz.com. As of January 1st 2006, we have gone commercial with our broadcast. No more rotating play lists except during maintenance time. We have also added new servers to play over 4000 tracks of music 24/7. Due to the increase in listener’s emails, listener requests, request from new artists for air play etc., we now have a small staff to help out with keeping things moving here at World’s Cool JazZ. T-shirts, Mugs, Sweatshirts, and posters are coming soon. We are working on broadcasting live from some of our local Jazz clubs and Jazz festivals in Florida. We already have broadcasted live October 2004-07 from the Clearwater Jazz Holiday in Clearwater, Florida. Stay tuned more to come. Do you have any ideas for the broadcast, any artwork for the station? If so, drop us an e-mail or go to the guestbook and leave your comments. One last thing... We did not want to go here, since the price of broadcasting is going up, World’s Cool JazZ, wcjz.com is looking for some help to offset the costs of the broadcast. Any monetary donations or your old Jazz albums or CDs will be greatly appreciated. Have fun and enjoy the music and many thanks to our supporters. G
